Professional Bio

Ted Ward, Executive Director with the Grant County Economic Growth Council, has more than 25 years of organizational leadership experience, often serving as a change agent for groups and organizations needing to pivot to new strategies and practices.

Throughout his adult life, Ted has enjoyed numerous business ventures in roles requiring a healthy understanding of customer service and leadership. He also spent time performing with ComedySportz Indianapolis, where he discovered that many of the teambuilding, leadership, and professional development practices & philosophies he had been using all along parallel many key attributes of Improv Comedy (e.g., “Who’s Line Is It Anyway?”). Ted continues to borrow from these key attributes in his ongoing work in helping individuals, teams, and organizations to improve and succeed.

Ted has worked in several industries, served with numerous not-for-profit organizations, is a former Chief Probation Officer and a Past-President of the Probation Officers Professional Association of Indiana (POPAI), and he has served in administrative leadership and faculty roles at Ball State University, Ivy Tech Community College, and the University of Wisconsin System. On an international stage, Ted has served the adult and post-traditional learning field through service on the Council of Chief Online Learning Officers (C-COLO) with UPCEA, the
premier Professional, Continuing, and Online (PCO) Learning Association.

His personal mission statement reads: “I intend to encourage, inspire, and support growth and
development among the people with whom I have influence.”
